The maintenance supervisor of hospitality will assist in overseeing the facilities and maintaining the buildings and building systems that fall under the scope of the hospitality division. This is in conjunction with regular Maintenance Tech duties, which will be required for shift coverage. The supervisor will act as Maintenance tech on duty, performing duties under that job description. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Blake Facilities Manager in developing programs, policies, and procedures related to the facility’s physical properties and assets including but not limited to overseeing the repair, maintenance, and operation of all equipment, furnishings, systems, and related building components of the facilities including, but not limited to, the mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks (including to the extent applicable of an overall electronic locking strategy and plan), furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile and other equipment. This position reports to the Blake Facilities Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Effective use of all building management technology including the Energy Management System (EMS), Building Automation System (BAS), metering, Preventative Maintenance Program (PMP), and more.
  • Ensures that all of the procedures contained in the Facilities Procedures manual, as well as applicable sections of the Facilities Management Procedures manual and any other applicable policies and procedures, are practiced consistently and accurately. Keeps up-to-date and fully informed of periodic changes to the manuals, communicating the same to the facilities staff.
  • Directs all programs necessary to ensure the common areas of the Facilities are cleaned and maintained in accordance with company standards.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the approved CAM and Owner’s budgets for all areas of responsibility. Monitors variances and projections for accurate adjustments and reports.
  • Ensures that PMP is operational and being properly utilized by Facilities staff.
  • Directs the preventive maintenance programs to ensure that all equipment performs at optimal efficiency and longevity.
  • Ensure fast, efficient, and high-quality completion of projects with strong leadership, perfect process, and strong partnerships.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with all local and/or county building and emergency services officials, staff, tenants, vendors, personnel, and Senior Management.
  • Partners with the Operations, IT, Risk, and Safety Management to provide adequate security systems and procedures and ensure that emergency needs are met.
  • Assists in the management of the utilities program, ensuring optimal energy efficiency, proper metering infrastructure, and overall effective management of all utilities serving the property.
  • Ensures OSHA compliance in all applicable areas including but not limited to PPE requirements, hot work permits, and lock-out tag-out procedures. Also ensures facilities personnel are properly trained using mandated programs.
  • Works with the Management Team to ensure the daily operational needs are met.
  • Interfaces with the merchants on daily operational issues. Demonstrates a professional and supportive Customer Service approach with merchants, customers, and all Departments.
  • Direct responsibility for holding contractors accountable to their contractual obligations, negotiating contracts and overall expense performance for assigned areas.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages Facilities staff to ensure maximum productivity which may include reviewing assignments, and results, and ensuring that tasks are completed to standards.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
  • Keeps up to date on the overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and reporting to the Facilities Manager for taking corrective actions.
  • Working with the Facilities Manager to control maintenance inventory and ensure that adequate supplies and materials are available.
  • Ensure proper implementation, review, access, and upkeep of the work order system.
  • Works with the Safety Committee to ensure that maintenance, fire, and evacuation equipment is up to date and property is environmentally safe.
  • Report any work-related injuries to Human Resources and follow all workplace injury procedures.
  • Be courteous and helpful to all staff, visitors, and callers.
  • Have a clean and neat appearance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor, Director of Facilities, or as reasonably requested by the Senior Leadership Team.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Ability to manage and lead fellow team members while working closely with them.
  • Understanding and knowledge of accounting practices, skills, and terminology
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Computer skills, including Excel, and Word, and knowledge of a corporate email system
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and legal documents
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of building systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevator, telephone/data, cleaning procedures, electronic lock, CCTV, and fire protection systems
  • Knowledge and experience with computerized preventative maintenance and work order software, building automation and life safety systems
  • Ability to work positively and productively with internal employees
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job in this fast-paced environment, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and sometimes in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, an alpine resort environment, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock and is required to operate hand tools.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


The employee should be willing to ask for help and/or clarification. The employee must have strong organizational skills and be highly detail-oriented. Must be able to adapt to changes in policy and/or procedures as directed and offer suggestions to improve operations.

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.
