Description:


The Junior Camp Coordinator supervises Camp Counselors and/or Specialists while assisting the Senior Coordinator in daily duties. The Junior Camp Coordinator creates a positive and safe environment for all campers and staff. Position pays $21.00 – $22.25 per hour depending on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assume responsibilities for children under their care to ensure a positive and safe experience
  • Actively supervise Camp Counselors and/or Specialists in designated program(s). Provide constructive feedback to staff
  • Ensure the safety, health and welfare of campers and staff by providing a safe camp environment and immediately and appropriately responding to any incidents, illnesses or situations that arise.
  • Responsible for assisting in parent emails and other communication, with direction from the Camp Director
  • Support the emotional and social wellbeing of the kids through positive behavior management, supportive interactions and conflict resolution.
  • Communicate regularly and appropriately with the rest of the J Camp staff team, both verbally and in writing.
  • Immediately inform the Camp Director of any concerns that arise with campers, staff, parents/guardians or community members.
  • Communicate with Camp Director and other members of the camp leadership team; share recommendations and/or concerns with the Camp Director.
  • Work closely under the direction of a Senior Coordinator and assist them in daily operations.
  • Responsible for joining groups that need extra support.
  • Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC
  • Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
  • Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

To be successful as a Junior Camp Coordinator you should have:


  • A current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children through an approved certifying body. (or willing to become certified)
  • Experience and/or training working with children preferred.
  • Openness to learning
