Physical Requirements |
This position will intermittently work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive motion. Occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to 50 pounds.

Shift |
40 hours per week primarily on first shift, with the possibility of working 2nd or 3rd shift. Weekend call pay a possibility.

Job Summary |
The Laboratory Scientist/UKHC will be responsible for performing laboratory testing in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center.
performed in the Genomics Core Laboratory. Specifically, perform and analyze next-generation sequencing experiments, Sanger sequencing, Fragment Analysis, Real-time/Melt Curve analysis, and other molecular techniques. Additionally, this position will be required to troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation within the Core facility, provide guidance with design and implementation of experiments, and perform additional molecular genomics testing as needed.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities |
Attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments are a must. Should be comfortable with utilizing computer software (MS Windows, Word, Excel).
