The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead of International Accounting reporting to the Manager of International Accounting and Finance.

This position works on-site in Miami, Florida


Position Summary:



The International Accounting Lead will have the responsibility for providing oversight and direction to senior and staff accountants responsible for ensuring the correct application of accounting practices and internal controls over non-U.S. entities. The International Accounting Lead will also be responsible for the application of policy guidelines, monitoring of balance sheet account balances, and reporting of key performance indicators associated with the monthly close process for the non-U.S entities. This position will be a key resource in the ongoing development of the Company’s non-U.S. entities accounting processes, policies, and procedures. As such, the International Accounting Lead will need to develop strong inter-departmental relationships with tax, treasury and other accounting and finance groups locally and in foreign offices.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the department and individual goals and objectives are met and aligned with the Company’s / Accounting department’s policies, procedures, and goals.
  • Record and/or review and post journal entries for non-U.S entities as required.
  • Ensuring monthly balance sheet reconciliations are properly and timely performed.
  • Assist the IAF manager in the preparation and review of a variety of reports in preparation for quarterly Balance Sheet Review.
  • Review and record transfer pricing agreements with each non-U.S. entity.
  • Maintain a depository of all the related party agreements.
  • Review and record periodic intercompany transaction related entries to maintain the integrity of intercompany balances.
  • Work with Legal/ Tax on reviewing any intercompany amendments (i.e., revision to transfer pricing study).
  • May be responsible for or assist with the monthly intercompany invoices between Royal Caribbean Group and Silversea.
  • May be responsible for or assist with inquiries from tax, treasury, and other accounting groups about the Silversea intercompany accounts with RCG.
  • May be responsible for or assist with the account mapping, balancing, and recording of the Silversea brand results from the local Silversea financial system to the US GAAP financial system (JDE).
  • Go-to person when tax requires support from an audit perspective.
  • Liaise with tax, treasury and other accounting groups to establish proper accounting functions and controls related to non-U.S. entities.
  • Handle and resolve any accounting and internal control issues timely and effectively with foreign accountants.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that existing processes, or proposed changes, are well controlled, operating efficiently and effectively while identifying improvements, if any.
  • Review audited financial statements for non-U.S. entities in preparation for Board approvals.
  • Working with external and internal auditors on financial statement, Sarbanes-Oxley and other audit and review projects.
  • Participate in system design, implementation, and testing for all new/updated financial systems, process automation and enhancements.
  • Specifically, assist in Accounting’s ERP system (Oracle) implementation as it relates to the department’s tasks and provide support to the RCG international offices in their ERP implementation.
  • Establish and maintain systems of internal control to ensure compliance with Company Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental standards.
  • Leading or participating in special projects as within the department as assigned.
  • Travel to foreign offices as needed (10%-15%).

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:


  • Requires a four-year Accounting and/or Finance degree from an accredited university.
  • Requires five or more years’ experience in Accounting and/or Finance. CPA preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of, and be able to apply, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Management, leadership, human resource and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of supervising / managing other professionals.
  • Previous direct supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical journals, and legal and other general business documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of systems, JDE financial systems helpful.
  • Strong computer, communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be literate in Windows operating system, Excel, Access, Word and Power Point
