About Letterhead

With Letterhead, your newsletters do all the work for you. We help publishers and marketers engage their audience, create great content products, and generate revenue, with software that can automate and support the entire process through machine learning.

We’re a venture-backed scaleup on a journey to change how online engagement happens through meaningful, first-party content. Our founders came from the media industry, building a national network of local email newsletters, and spun out Letterhead in 2022 to help every organization master email.

Our Team

We’re a diverse team of internally-motivated, open-minded people who want to be the best at what we do. We value intellectual curiosity, candor, and a sense of urgency. When we hire, we look for cultural contribution rather than culture fit: what will each new person add to our team as we grow?

This position is remote and this person can sit anywhere in the US. We are a global team and prioritize great people over location.

Our Company Values

  • Users first: we’re here to help our customers, and we put their experience and priorities first.
  • Great and fast: we deliver top-quality work and experiences at high speed, every time.
  • Extreme ownership: we take pride in owning our work and owning the mission, even when something’s “not my job,” we work together to make it happen.

What We’re looking For

As the Lead Product Designer at Letterhead, you will work in tandem with our Lead Product Manager to spearhead the design efforts across our platform. You will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of our app adhere to a well-documented, componentized, and flexible design system based on Tailwind UI and implemented with Vue.js. This role requires a combination of leadership, creativity, and hands-on design expertise to elevate our product experience and set new industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Spearhead the design strategy and execution, ensuring that all design operations align with Letterhead’s vision and business goals.

  • Design System Ownership: Develop, maintain, and evolve a comprehensive design system based on Tailwind UI, ensuring consistency and flexibility across the platform.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, UX researchers and cross-functional teams to ensure that design considerations are integrated into all stages of product development.

  • Documentation & Prototyping: Lead the creation of detailed user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to communicate design intentions clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Freelance Management: Manage a budget for hiring and overseeing freelance designers to execute various design tasks as needed.

  • Innovation & Trends: Stay current with design trends, tools, and technologies, and apply this knowledge to keep Letterhead’s design at the cutting-edge.

  • Perform other duties as needed to contribute to the success of the product and the company.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Lead Designer or similar role in a B2B SaaS startup environment.

  • Proven ability to mentor and a desire to begin a management track for career development.

  • Strong proficiency in UX/UI design principles, prototyping, systems, tools and software.

  • Experience with Figma, Tailwind UI and Vue.js preferred.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to nondesigners.

  • Experience coordinating with freelance designers and managing project timelines and budgets.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver high-quality design work in a fast-paced, remote startup environment.
