Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a maintenance mechanic and to perform duties and responsibilities that require skill in multiple trades.
Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include:
- Constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness.
- Planning and carrying out projects from initial layout to completion.
- Performing roofing work, locating leaks and determining their cause and extent of damage.
- Performing maintenance, repair or construction of a variety of structures and surfaces of brick, block, stone, and other related material.
- Determining weld techniques and machine settings to be used; assembling and setting up parts to be welded.

- Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT)
- Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
- Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
- Use of Measuring Instruments
- Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc.
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- Knowledge of Materials
