Position Overview

Shockwave Medical is dedicated to empowering clinicians with impactful educational programs that enhance patient outcomes. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Professional Relations & Operations to drive the strategy and execution of high-impact medical education events. In this role, you will lead a team of event planning specialists, ensuring the flawless execution of both in-person and virtual education events that align with organizational goals and strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for planning and executing events firsthand, overseeing all event planning activities while playing a key role in optimizing event processes, managing budgets, ensuring healthcare compliance, and collaborating with internal teams-such as education, marketing, and sales-as well as external partners, including faculty and vendors, to ensure the success of healthcare professional (HCP) education programs.



This role can be performed remotely and reports directly to the Associate Director, Professional Relations and Operations.

Essential Job Functions


Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead and mentor a team of event planners, assign tasks, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative work environment to drive the team towards shared goals.


• Ensure the team delivers exceptional customer experience for clinicians and attendees, driving superior feedback and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

Event Planning & Execution Oversight:


• Oversee the logistics and execution of high-impact educational events, including local speaker programs, national education programs, fellows’ programs, HQ-based programs, and conference-based events.

• Direct the creation and implementation of event strategies and processes to support best-in-class execution.


• Manage scalable and efficient processes to ensure seamless and effective event execution.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:


• Ensure adherence to Healthcare Compliance guidelines, such as AdvaMed and MDMA Compliance Code of Ethics, in all event planning and execution.

• Ensure all events comply with company policies and industry regulations, tracking and reporting as necessary.


Performance & Analytics:

• Generate regular reports and dashboards to track event performance, providing insights to the effectiveness of programs.


• Proactively identify areas of improvement based on attendee feedback, evaluations, and post-event surveys.

Vendor & Budget Management:


• Oversee vendor identification, contracting, and relationship management.

• Manage event budgets, including faculty honoraria, attendee expenses, and other program costs, ensuring accurate reconciliation and adherence to financial goals.


Stakeholder & Relationship Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal departments (Sales, Marketing, Education) and external stakeholders (faculty, vendors, clinicians) to ensure smooth event operations.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align event priorities and educational needs.

Technology & Event Management Platforms:


• Utilize and manage event management platforms, such as Cvent, Salesforce, Speakcore, and other CRM tools, to plan, track, and execute events efficiently.

• Optimize event management platforms to streamline workflows and provide accurate data analysis and reporting.


Project Oversight & Coordination:

• Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing timelines, budgets, and resources effectively. Ensure cross-functional collaboration and alignment on project goals and deliverables.



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.


• Minimum 10 years of event planning or related experience, with at least 1 year in managerial or leadership capacity. 2 years of experience in the MedTech or healthcare industry preferred.

• Proven experience in managing a variety of educational programs, including webinars, third-party event sponsorships, conference symposia, and more.


• Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive decisions and optimize event programs.

• Deep understanding of medical education, clinical applications, and regulatory guidelines within the MedTech or healthcare industry.


• Advanced knowledge of Healthcare Compliance guidelines and best practices.

• Expertise in managing and utilizing event management platforms such as Cvent, Salesforce, and other related tools.


• Experience with managing or facilitating HCP consulting agreements, documentation, and reporting.

Preferred Skills:


• Experience working with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and internal stakeholders.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

• Experience managing educational events in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.


• Proficiency in reporting and analytics, tracking KPIs, and evaluating event impact.

Travel Requirements:


• Approximately 30% travel is required to oversee and support events.



The anticipated salary range for this position is 114,000.00 – 229,000.00 USD Annual


The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
