Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) is seeking a Mechanical & Structural Engineering Mid-Level Manager in support of Loads and Dynamics for the Space Launch System (SLS) program in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in loads analysis, dynamic simulations, and team leadership, with a focus on delivering high-quality engineering solutions.



Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers, and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers.
  • Leads team that conducts loads and dynamics analyses, builds mathematical models, determines design load cases, and qualifying test requirements.
  • Develops loads and dynamics environments to specify component and system level requirements for design, development, and qualification to support the product life cycle.
  • Integrates structural, inertial, aerodynamic and systems definition for analyses and plans, coordinates, conducts, and documents testing and verification activities to ensure compliance with regulations, system design specifications.
  • Guides product design to ensure vehicle integration and demonstrates compliance with internal and external specifications and requirements.
  • Develops new analytical processes and tools, and improves existing technologies, tools and processes to enhance technology readiness, improve vehicle performance, reduce cycle time and cost.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or Astrodynamics Engineering.
  • Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Astrodynamics Engineering, and/or Engineering Management.
  • Experience leading an engineering team as a Technical Lead Engineer (TLE), LX, etc.
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners.
  • Master of Science in an engineering discipline.
  • Previous management experience.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams.
  • Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance.
  • Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members.
  • Can gain trust of team and provide guidance for their careers.


NASA Access:

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.


Summary pay range: $151,300 – $204,700
