Job Description

The Membership & Events Director is accountable for driving membership and events acquisition and retention. The incumbent will provide direction and enthusiasm in the development, retention and promotion of membership and events in the community and within the Y. Emphasis of ensuring the highest quality service to members and guests, the Membership & Events Director will work closely with other YMCA Directors and department staff in efforts to welcome, support and engage all members, guests and staff. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.



Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.

• Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.


• Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
of the community.


• CPR/AED & First Aid Certification & Redwoods training completed within 90 days of hire

Essential Functions



1. Ensures that Y Membership & Events meet community needs.


2. Promotes membership, events and program enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members.



3. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration.


4. Coordinates efforts to maximize enrollments and provides ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues.



5. Ensures an outstanding level of service and engagement that fosters loyalty among those we serve.


6. Organizes membership promotion events at the YMCA and markets the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA.



7. Ensures proper implementation of Membership Services procedures. Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff in a clear, concise way. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.


8. Promotes Corporate Membership throughout our service area and grows the enrollment of companies in the program annually.



9. Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership, events and takes appropriate action to resolve variances.


10. Hire, Trains and Leads membership, events staff and volunteers effectively; recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams; onboards and develops them for success.



11. Regularly audit memberships for accuracy and monitor membership best practices.


12. Ensures membership, events and program revenue is properly deposited and recorded in accordance with the YMCA policies.



13. Achieves year over year revenue growth in the Y’s membership department, increases our membership retention and solicits for corporate membership monthly in our service area.


14. Performs administration of membership and events departments to ensure all date is regularly updated to reflect accurate membership and events data.



15. Completes deposits and scans checks according to established procedures.


16. Event scheduling, coordination, event set-up and tear-down.



17. Other duties as assigned.
