Overview

Responsible for the receptionist and clerical function on the Patient Care unit and documentation of cardiac rhythms at a central monitoring station under supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities


  • Continuous Monitoring: Observe and interpret cardiac rhythms and other vistal signs on telemetry monitors. Identify any deviations from the norm and respond promptly. Posts monitor strips and 24-hour trends as directed daily. Accurate rhythm interpretation. 
  • Alarm Response: Immediately notify nursing staff or appropriate personnel of any critical changes in patient status
  • Documentation: Accurately document cardiac rhythms, events, and any interventions in the patient’s medical record as per hospital policy
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that telemetry equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate department
  • Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with the healthcare team, including nurses, physicians, and other technicians.
  • Confidentiality: Protect patient privacy by adhering to HIPAA and other confidentiality policies
  • Professional Accountability: Independently seeks out other job-related experiences to enhance knowledge base. Timely completion of assigned education and annual competencies. Actively engaged in unit-based councils and performance improvement. Recognizes unit needs and works to facilitate solutions. 


Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of cardiac rhythms and medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in using telemetry and other monitoring equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have completed Medical Terminology course
