Summary Position Statement
Under the general supervision of the Front of House Managers, Museum Associates are primary staff team members. This position is responsible for outstanding guest experiences for visitors to the Museum. They must provide a high level of service and satisfaction to ensure an excellent experience for all visitors and are responsible for a broad range of activities including facilitating entry/egress for public hours and events, and working the museum shop.
Essential Functions
- Project a positive image, serving as an ambassador for the Museum
- Maintain a proper appearance with Museum guidelines
- Arrive to work at scheduled times unless otherwise arranged with FOH Manager according to Museum guidelines
- Answer phone calls, deliver mail within the building, and other light duties throughout the day
- Relay accurate information about planned programs and events
- Enter and ensure accurate data entry
- Interact with Museum visitors, participants, partners, artists, scholars, and volunteers
- Actively participate in all provided training classes and properly implement newly learned skills
- Ensure that the Museum’s rules and safety protocols are followed
- Light cleaning and dusting of shelving, display items, counters and other areas as needed
- Stock, replenish, and clean merchandise, as outlined in each area, on display and in accordance with visual display guidelines
- Count and receive new Store products following Museum policies and procedures
- Assist with customer service in the Museum Store
- Assist with Museum Store inventory
- Prepare items for shipping
- Help ensure overall quality of the visitor experience of the Museum for programs and events
- Help with set-up and take-down for events and programs, both Museum programs and facility rentals
- Work with other departments on special projects as needed
Non-Essential Functions
- Successfully complete other duties as assigned
- Keep Front of House Manager informed regarding visitor concerns or issues
- Assist with maintaining inventory reports and make recommendations on future ordering in the store as needed
- Assist with staffing Museum events as needed
