We are hiring an occupational therapist to join our Early Assessment and Support Alliance team in Salem, OR. The prospective candidate will provide occupational therapy screenings/assessments and behavioral health interventions for individuals diagnosed with conditions on the schizophrenia spectrum and individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Provide regional occupational therapy services for consumers receiving IDD services in Marion County and for early psychosis programs covering Marion, Polk, and Linn counties. Provide occupational profile and performance analysis, written Occupational Therapy Evaluations, and Occupational Therapy Treatment and Intervention Plans for respective consumers. This classification functions as an autonomous occupational therapist responsible for occupational therapy services’ delivery, safety, and effectiveness.



SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification.


Typical Duties – Duties include, but are not limited to the following

  • Provides Occupational screenings/assessments for identified clients in Marion, Polk, and Linn Counties. Services are provided in the office, in the community, and in individual’s homes.
  • Provides consultation, training, & orientation to Occupational Therapy interventions and recommendations to treatment team members, student interns, and other professionals.
  • Facilitates psychoeducational and skills groups (MFG, Health Lifestyles, social skills, etc.)
  • Participates in treatment plan development in collaboration with the treatment team and community members when appropriate (i.e. Individual Emergency Plan). Ensures the collaborative development, periodic review and revision of OT recommendations on Individual Support Plan.
  • Documents services to meet contract. Expectation is that employee will strive for 30 hours per week to be scheduled with occupational therapy, groups, client support, committee work and approved training.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.

Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training.



Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in occupational therapy.
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Must possess and retain an Occupational Therapist License issued by the State of Oregon.
    • Must possess a current driver’s license in the applicant’s state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business.     • The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.

    • Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with one late clinic weekly (10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.), with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES
    General knowledge of normal and abnormal neurodevelopment. Quality assurance activities, standards, and procedures; modern principles, techniques, materials, and equipment used in occupational therapy; anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, physical and psychological pathology, and human development; State and Federal laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and medical conditions, potential hazards to consumers during treatment, and necessary preventive and remedial measures.



    Skill to select and administer appropriate tests to assess and evaluate consumer’s fine and gross motor skills and daily living skills. Identify individual goals based on evaluation results and develop treatment programs to fit individual needs. Verbal and written Communication of test results, plans, and objectives; problem-solve and work independently.

    Carry out occupational therapy activities on a one-on-one basis or in a group setting. Prepare written progress and evaluation reports. Demonstrate techniques of occupational therapy and teach its objectives. Establish and maintain effective working relationships. Motivate and sustain consumer interest. Modify and terminate treatment activities, plans, and goals. Work and collaborate within a team. Act professionally with an appropriate code of ethics and confidentiality standards.



    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Operates a motor vehicle; sees using depth perception; stands; sits; moves about the work area; climbs 1 floor of stairs; lifts and carries up to 5 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12-pt. font; hears a normal level of speech; works in areas that may be exposed to heat, cold, dust, and smoke; works in areas that may be wet or uneven.

    Marion County offers a generous benefits package to regular employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time regular employees working less than 50% of the regularly scheduled work week are not eligible for benefits.
