Outside Sales Representative Job Summary
We are seeking an Outside Sales Representative to manage a designated territory and customer base, ensuring customer satisfaction, driving new business growth, and meeting sales goals. This role involves travel up to 25% within the assigned territory to engage with customers, provide technical support, and deliver tailored industrial equipment solutions.
Outside Sales Representative Responsibilities
- Territory and Customer Management: Set and manage sales objectives, goals, and forecasts for the assigned region.
- Field Visits and Travel: Conduct regular customer visits to understand their needs and drive sales within the territory.
- Technical Assistance and Education: Work closely with customer teams to specify and apply industrial products, providing product training and support.
- Relationship Building: Strengthen relationships with current customers while identifying opportunities for new business growth.
- Issue Resolution: Serve as a point of contact for customer disputes, collaborating with internal teams to ensure timely resolutions.
- Sales Reporting: Report on sales activities, market trends, customer feedback, and progress toward achieving goals.
Outside Sales Representative Position Requirements
- Experience: 2-5 years of success in a technical or engineering role within an industrial environment, preferably involving valves, flow control, or related products. Sales experience may also be considered.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience with a high school diploma will also be considered.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to actively listen, clarify customer needs, and deliver clear explanations.
- Customer Service: Proven ability to build and maintain lasting customer relationships.
- Self-Motivated: Capable of working independently, setting personal goals, and taking initiative.
- Technical Aptitude: Understanding of industrial equipment applications and the ability to address customer needs effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Resourceful and proactive in identifying solutions to customer challenges.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% within the designated territory.
