Description

The Breast Surgery APP will be responsible for providing independent clinical care assessment; patient care management services, and serve as first assist in the operating room to members of the breast surgical oncology team for UCLA Breast Surgical Oncology Westwood and Santa Monica. The APP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care, and make appropriate referrals. Perform and document comprehensive history and physical examinations on pre-operative and post-operative patients. Primary responsibilities will be in the outpatient setting and operating room. Manage medical care of new/established/return/post-op patients in collaboration with the attending physician. Act as a liaison between patients and physicians as well as administrative staff and physicians in medically related situations. Review and interpret all diagnostic data and formulate a plan of care in collaboration with the assigned physician and other members of the medical staff. Document services rendered.



Salary range: $74.95- $100.86/hourly


Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Graduated from an accredited PA Program – Required
  • Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Program – Preferred
  • CA license to practice as a Physician Assistant in California – Required
  • National Certification as PA – Required
  • BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association – Required
  • DEA # – Required
  • Breast Surgery experience – Preferred
  • Skill and communication theory and its applications in a healthcare facility – Required
  • Skill in interviewing patients of different ages and cultures in order to obtain and provide information – Required
  • Knowledge and skill to perform physician patient assessment through a standard physical examination – Required
  • Detailed knowledge of laboratory test values such as CBC, urine analysis and drug levels – Required
  • Working knowledge of patient teaching – Required
  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques – Required
  • Knowledge of interdisciplinary resources needed to coordinate patient care and facilitate referral – Required
  • Strong organizational skills to create patient treatment plans and work with multidisciplinary teams – Required
  • Knowledge and skill in wound care and treatment – Required
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing – Required
  • Ability to ready, interpret, apply, and or follow physician orders, policies, procedures, and written/verbal instructions. – Required
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel – Required
  • Ability to work independently, set goals and objectives, prioritize work activities – Required
  • Ability to determine when to function independently and when to request physician intervention – Required
  • Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner – Required
  • Skill in written and oral communication utilizing standard English grammar and vocabulary, as well as medical English – Required
  • Knowledge and skill in using personal computer for patient are and information management – Required
  • Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs – Required
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures and standards of care of UCLA Healthcare – Preferred
