Job Summary

This position encompasses a wide variety of roles and responsibilities as they relate to supporting a culture of safety and quality in the Department of Radiology. Primary responsibilities will center on policy creation and revision, assisting the Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Manager with tasks related to regulatory preparedness, and providing the Director with management of the improvement team projects. The individual in this role must have a strong commitment to customer service, demonstrate an ability to work harmoniously in a team environment, and be able to achieve dependable results in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

Responsibilities*


Essential:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary committee in the review and revision of departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Prepare documents to meet institutional requirements.
  • Partner with the Interprofessional Policy Committee (IPPC) to upload and update policies, procedures, and guidelines within PolicyStat.
  • Maintain awareness of impending due dates in PolicyStat to ensure departmental compliance.
  • Assign policies, procedures, and guidelines to appropriate owners with clear expectations of when the work needs to be completed. Perform periodic check-ins of assigned items to keep work on task.
  • Provide frequent updates to the Quality, Accreditation, Safety and Improvement (QASI) Team on the overall status of departmental compliance in the realm of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist with the creation of new policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Act as a mentor and guide to those who are new at writing policies, procedures, and guidelines to help them develop their skills.
  • Act as a coordinator for policies, procedures, and guidelines that span multiple modalities and require input from multiple stakeholders.
  • Utilize dependable resources to research and find answers to regulatory compliance questions.
  • Create educational materials and presentations to help keep the department informed on policy, procedure, and guideline changes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of current policies, procedures, and guidelines (both institutional and Radiology specific).
  • Participate in various committees related to Joint Commission, policy oversight, and departmental operations as needed.
  • Assist in preparing status reports, proposals and presentations as assigned.
  • Active leader of the Quality, Accreditation, Safety and Improvement (QASI) Team.
  • Participate in additional quality improvement initiatives as directed
  • Assist with internal Accreditation activities (i.e., Mock Surveys) as bandwidth allows.
  • Provide updates on QASI work to the administrative team.

Required Qualifications*

  • Computer skills (e.g., working knowledge of Word, Excel, and/or database software)
  • The ability to work independently for some tasks as well as the ability to work as part of a collaborative team for others.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extremely detail oriented with an exceptional ability to multitask.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Ability to problem-solve, organize, and process information with speed and accuracy.
  • Understands and adapts to changes easily and supportively.
  • Strong sense of creativity.
  • Familiarity with Radiology policies and procedures in either a technical or administrative capacity.

Desired Qualifications*


  • Registered Medical Imaging Technologist (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists, or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or BS degree in a healthcare related field.
  • Advanced data analysis skills.
  • Experience with leading project teams.
  • Previous policy writing experience.
  • Experience with change management.


Work Schedule

40 hours, Monday – Friday, typically dayshift, but flexibility required for rotating weekend coverage.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
