Hillsboro Technical Operations (HTO) is a drug product & finished goods manufacturing organization responsible for the reliable delivery of Roche’s commercial portfolio & pipeline products. The Operations organization at HTO is divided into 2 value streams, which combine to produce millions of units of life-saving medicine every year to patients around the world.
Our Hillsboro Individualized Therapies (HIT) team at Genentech is at the forefront of bringing new medical advancements from development stages to commercial manufacturing.
As a member of our Site Services team that supports both HTO and HIT, this role to ensuring the safety and compliance of our facilities. As a key member of our Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement programs that protect our people, maintain regulatory compliance, and uphold our dedication to environmental stewardship. The Opportunity:
In this exciting role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, health, and environmental compliance of Genentech’s Hillsboro site.
- You will be responsible for developing and implementing SHE programs, conducting risk assessments, and serving as a subject matter expert to mitigate risks and enhance safety culture.
- You will assist site leaders in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Roche corporate directives.
- You will provide expertise and advise on a variety of EHS topics and workplace safety such as electrical safety, fall protection, walking working surfaces, machine guarding, environmental compliance, and sustainability.
- You will serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits and inspections, ensuring detailed reporting and closure of corrective actions.
- You will conduct workplace risk/exposure assessments for various classes of hazards to systematically identify and reduce risk.
- You will lead investigations into SHE incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions while sharing lessons learned.
- You will support continuous improvement initiatives to improve SHE functions and manufacturing processes.
- You will develop and track program metrics to measure effectiveness, customer adoption, business interruption, cost, and risk.
- You will collaborate with key stakeholders to create sustainable improvement plans.
Who you are:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, physical sciences, engineering or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- You have 4-7 years of progressive experience in implementation of Environment, Health and Safety Programs in a manufacturing environment.
- You have a strong background in sustainability, project management including business case development, and a passion for driving systemic change
- You have knowledge and experience with Oregon OSHA regulations
- You have a proven track record to reframe challenges into opportunities and influence others to adopt new behaviors and approaches
- You have resilience and adaptability in navigating organizational resistance
- You have a demonstrated ability to make critical business decisions, effectively lead multiple challenges, and develop solutions within short timeframes
- You have a consistent record of working effectively with multiple levels of employees and in a matrixed environment
- You have a strong analytical background and problem-solving skills, with well-developed planning and organizational abilities
- You demonstrate a high level of confidence leading meetings, delivering training, and speaking effectively to diverse audiences
Preferred:
- You have work experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, or high-tech industries
- You have or are working towards certification in one or more areas such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Safety Manager (CSM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Ergonomics Professional (CPE)
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of
Oregon is $76,900-$142,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
