The community you’ll be caring for:  AdventHealth Orlando

The role you’ll contribute:

The Robotics Program Coordinator / Educator is responsible for leadership in the delivery of care and practice within the Robotics scope of service. Participates in employee selection through interviewing and hiring process. Develops and implements the orientation, training, and education of new personnel and ongoing staff development. Assists in the development, implementation, and tracking of unit based Key Performance Indicators and Performance Improvement program. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Develops and implements procedure database for all robotic procedures. Develops and maintains Doctor Preference Cards (DPC’s) by procedure and specialty.  Manages supplies opened for procedure to avoid waste and manage cost containment.
  • Reviews and coordinates the surgery schedule to avoid scheduling conflicts.  Collaborates with surgical department leadership and schedulers to ensure appropriate utilization of block time.  Makes suggestions for adjustments to block time as needed. 
  • Ensures instrument and equipment availability for all cases in a timely manner.  Collaborates with sterile processing to ensure appropriate decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation.  Oversees surgical team to ensure point of use cleaning is completed at sterile field and instruments are managed safely.
  • Assists intraoperatively with all robotic procedures, including education for operating room staff. Works collaboratively with the surgeons and the perioperative staff to ensure on time starts and turnover times within defined metrics. 
  • Interviews, hires, and trains robotics staff. Develops and implements all orientation and in-service programs for staff. Ensures staff maintain a high level of expertise in respect to robotics. Develops protocol for staffs’ annual competency review. 
  • Assists Nurse Manager and ANMS with staffing schedule to ensure appropriately trained staff are available for scheduled procedures. 

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Social, Natural, Mathematical, or Biological Sciences, OR

·         Certified Surgical First Assistant

·         Nursing degree, Surgical Technology degree, or a graduate of a military training program that includes surgical technology skills

·         Five years of robotic experience

·         Intuitive Surgical Robotics certification                                                                                                           

·         If Surgical First Assistant, certified by one of the recognized boards.

·         CPR certification



Preferred qualifications: 

·   BSN or MSN

·   Experience in the clinical setting related to area of specialty

·   Certified Surgical First Assistant
