Project Description
- The summer interns will work primarily at Tolk and Jones Station. The intern will be part of the Performance Optimization Reliability Engineering group headed by Don Baxa. The intern’s responsibilities will be to support plants engineering as well as plant operations. At Tolk Station one of the primary jobs of the intern is to perform a study of all the water wells providing water to the plant. The intern will utilize a flow meter and well as other equipment to test each functioning water well to determine flow rates, water draw down and pump efficiencies. They will then write a report on the information gathered. This information will help to analyze the water supply situation for Tolk and the future needs and or possible expansion of the well field.
- The intern will also do basic training in safety as well as take a power plant fundamentals class. This will help the intern better understand the basic workings of a power plant. The intern will also get a chance to tour other facilities with different fuel types and possibly a wind farm. Work with the Engineering staff to support the plant operations and to help troubleshoot equipment issues. Work as an entry level engineering intern to test and analyze water well field equipment, namely flow rates, draw down and pump characteristics for the water wells supply the plant. Provide a report at the end of the summer detailing the information gathered from the well field. This information will be used to study the water supply for the plant and any future expansion of the well field.
This will be a summer opportunity (Mid-May 2025 thru Mid to late August 2025) with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer and 15-20 hrs./wk. during a school semester.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program, studying areas such as electrical, mechanical, civil, and chemical engineering.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.70 to $30.10 per hour
