Job Summary

A research technician is wanted in a basic science laboratory specializing in research in vision and ophthalmology. The position will entail laboratory bench work and animal work to study basic molecular and cellular biology.

Responsibilities*

  • Perform routine molecular and cellular biology experimental procedures under the supervision of higher level research staff. These experimental procedures include but are not limited to DNA/RNA sample purification, protein extraction and quantification, PCR, Western blotting, microscopy, paraffin sectioning, and any other experimental protocols needed to move the project forward.
  • Perform simple data analysis
  • Take on aspects of lab management, including ordering and safety inspections
  • Assist with rodent imaging, anesthesia, and experimental procedures

Required Qualifications*


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited American university
  • At least one year experience with biology-related projects
  • Highly motivated responsible individual with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • The ability to work as a part of a team and also independently is essential.
  • The candidate should possess good organizational and communication skills and should be willing to learn new procedures and methods.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience with molecular biology techniques including Western blotting, PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, and paraffin sectioning.
  • Experience with animal models of disease
  • 2 years or more of experience in basic wet lab techniques including molecular biology and biochemistry

Background Screening
