Core Skills:
- Risk Assessment and Analysis: The ability to thoroughly evaluate various risks associated with insurance applications or loan requests.
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of financial statements, credit reports, and other financial data to assess creditworthiness and financial stability.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous review of applications, supporting documents, and other information to identify potential red flags or inconsistencies.
- Analytical Skills: The capacity to interpret complex data, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions to support underwriting decisions.
- Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication to interact with clients, agents, brokers, and other stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Efficient management of multiple applications, deadlines, and priorities.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in relevant software and systems used for underwriting and data analysis.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards governing underwriting practices.
- Property Underwriting: Knowledge of property and casualty insurance principles, coverages, and risk factors.
- Time Management: The ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
- Teamwork: Collaboration with colleagues, underwriters, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient underwriting processes.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing underwriting guidelines, market conditions, and technological advancements.
- Customer Service Orientation: Providing excellent service to clients, agents, and brokers throughout the underwriting process.
- Ethical Conduct: Maintaining high ethical standards and adhering to company policies and industry regulations.
- Degree in Business or Finance
- 2+ years of Experience
- CFA Exam(s) a strong Plus
