Join us for an incredible opportunity to be a part of our Security Team as our Dockmaster at the Hyatt Regency Seattle.

The Dockmaster is responsible for the oversight and supervision of the safety and security of the hotel’s loading docks. The Dockmaster will direct deliveries to the hotels, and coordinate with special events as needed.

This supervisory level position is the liaison between Vendors, Security, Event Planning, Purchasing, and Housekeeping, to ensure all deliveries are successfully managed, and all vendors are able to deliver their product efficiently. It will also be the responsibility of the Dockmaster to ensure the loading dock is maintained in an orderly fashion, is clean, safe, and in working order. The Dockmaster is part of the security team and will report to the Director of Security. They will take direction from security and work closely with all other departments.



Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate/schedule delivers for group events
  • Blocking out bays for scheduled truck arrivals
  • Maintain records of deliveries
  • Checking in vendors for on-site events
  • Maintain steady, organized, and efficient traffic pattern in loading dock
  • Review hotel correspondence from Event Planning Managers to anticipate and plan for scheduled deliveries
  • Management of freight elevators from loading dock
  • Cleaning dock area and maintaining orderly environment, to include compactors and dock bay lift gates with the assistance of Stewarding
  • Patrol breezeway, freight elevator entrance, dock entrance, etc.
  • Report and document safety hazards, potentially hazardous conditions, and unsafe practices and procedures
  • Take reports on all accidents involving the loading docks.


The hourly rate for this position is $29.30/hour. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who have remained in the position for four years, which is currently $29.89/hour.

Qualifications

  • A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills
  • 1-3 years of security experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
