Overview

HubSpot’s Flywheel Product team is responsible for most of the systems that HubSpot’s Go To Market team use on a daily basis to run our business. We build custom tools to fill the gaps between the best third party tools on the market, HubSpot’s CRM, and HubSpot’s billing management systems. Our teams focus on creating insightful, strategic interactions between HubSpot reps, HubSpot Partners, and customers throughout the entire customer lifecycle.

The Partner Product Group within Flywheel Product focuses on accelerating HubSpot’s global growth by equipping Partners with innovative product experiences and unified data insights to enhance their Go To Market efficiency and drive customer value. We build systems that enable effective collaboration between HubSpot Reps and Partners, while providing Partners with tools to allow them to scale their businesses.

In this role, the right engineer will have the opportunity to: 


  • Make thoughtful design decisions considering the reliability, maintainability, usability, readability, performance, and scalability of the overall solution;

  • Work with a variety of open source technologies, including MySQL,Vitess, Hadoop HBase, Kafka, Spark, and ElasticSearch, all running on AWS;

  • Mentor more junior engineers in areas such as architecture, design, coding, tooling and infrastructure;
  • Participate in code reviews;
  • Carry out system testing and debugging, monitoring code reliability to ensure secure systems;
  • Respond quickly to bug reports to ensure reps can continue to complete their daily tasks;
  • Perform on-call rotations for operational support (pager duty);
  • Own new feature development from requirements through to design ideation, development, testing, and ongoing support;

  • Maintain operational integrity across such a large complex environment through previous system design experience;
  • Solve for the unity of  HubSpot’s complex data architecture by developing a deep understanding of HubSpot’s business model;
  • Help to surface the most useful information to our reps via our applications to improve our reps’ efficiency;
  • Collaborate with engineers, PM, designers, business system analysts, and stakeholders to build new features and solve development issues;

A great candidate for this role will have:

  • 3+ years production experience, ideally with Java, or similar programming language
  • 1+ year production experience with relational databases such as MySQL
  • Experience in building and debugging performant scalable asynchronous systems in production
  • Experience with designing and maintaining Distributed Systems
  • Located with EST time zone
