The Boeing Company is looking for a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to join our team located in Houston, TX. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.
The CST-100 Senior Software Engineering Manager is responsible for all software development and certification activities supporting development, test, labs, and operations. The Senior Software Manager also responsible for interfacing with internal CST-100 program teams, NASA Commercial Crew Program teams, and other external partners. Additionally, the Senior Software Manger is responsible for developing and maintaining simulations, tools, flight operations notes, technical debt, technical design reviews, along with program and customer metrics and key performance indicators. The Senior Software Manager develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates CST-100 program software teams.
Position Responsibilities:
• Leading the team in the full software development lifecycle including lab management and certification of flight activities
• Leading on-call operations teams supporting preparation, launch, flight, quiescent, landing, and recovery
• Developing estimates to support contract proposal activities, including leading cost and schedule stewardship for all CST-100 software activities
• Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes including leading the team using advanced agile framework methodologies
• Managing, developing and motivating employees and modeling the Boeing Behaviors
• Developing and executing plans in accordance with organizational processes and procedures
• Interfacing with both internal project management customers as well the NASA customer
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Houston, TX.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering
• 10+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role
• 10+ years’ experience working in lab test, flight test, or similar test environment
• 10+ years of experience with mission/safety-critical software development
• 5+ years of experience in hardware and software integration
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering management
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Experience championing safety and quality within an organization
• Experience developing and implementing departmental strategies and plans
• Experience leading high performing Agile teams
• Experience leading software estimates for technical complexity, cost, and schedule
• Experience leading contract management of technical suppliers
• Experience cultivating leadership within the software organization leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams
• Experience implementing modern DevSecOps techniques and tools
• Experience communicating with all levels of management, customers, and partners

Summary Pay Range: $165,750 – $224,250
