Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join us as a Sr. Systems Analyst!

About the role

As a Senior Systems Analyst you will be responsible for helping to build, optimize, drive enhancements and maintain mission critical applications that allow our business partners to proactively manage business processes. You will work under minimal general supervision as an individual contributor and partner with others in designing and estimating development efforts based on high level requirements; to evaluate functional and technical problems; You will also work effectively with business and technical subject matter experts, other systems analysts, developers, quality assurance analysts and third party vendors ensuring that deliverables are met.

What you’ll do


  • You will translate user requirements, write technical specifications, and work closely with development resources on use cases, flowcharts, and technical design.
  • Perform the role of Scrum Master to lead daily standup as well as sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Participate in large system implementations. Accurately estimate and deliver assigned tasks.
  • Manage projects that support the application, including communication, monitoring status, providing status updates and driving results.
  • Act as the liaison between the application team, the vendor and other IT support teams to coordinate resources, request assistance and communicate updates.
  • Analyze and streamline business processes through appropriate tools and methods.
  • Support developers and testers during system development to understand requirements, provide technical system documentation and assist end users with developing a robust test approach.
  • You’ll provide procedural and technical guidance to the team to address the technical specifications and troubleshoot and perform problem resolution on most difficult problems.
  • Assist the Product Owner with keeping the team and stakeholders aligned via frequent communication both verbally and in writing via multiple platforms.
  • Utilize systems analysis and design tools and methodologies across multiple platforms
  • Help mentor associates and influence the SA community to create and apply best practices.

Compensation
Salary Range: $93,900 – $156,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are
* Strong communication, organizational skills and ability to convey the appropriate level of detail to the right audience at the right time.
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Equivalent work experience may be accepted.
* Minimum of 3 to 7 years of Information Technology experience.
* 3+ years in systems analysis and design.
* Strong business and technical understanding of relevant technologies and systems.
* Self-motivated, with ability to work on two or more projects/tasks with little direction, and apply strong judgment and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work as an individual contributor, team member or lead for a small team.
* Implementation experience with waterfall/SDF and Agile development methodologies.
* Experience with workflow and process modeling.
* Extensive experience with computing tools such as Teams, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SQL, Project and Lucidchart.
