Hyatt Hotels and Resorts

The Staff Accountant position is responsible for the general operations and assisting the Assistant Director of Finance in running the Finance department in line with Hyatt Corporate standards while meeting guests’ expectations.

Other responsibilities will include the following:

Manage daily administrative tasks


Act as a point of contact between internal departments and Finance, including clients

Assist with journal entries and execute month-end closing checklist


Assist with reporting and preparation of account reconciliations

Review, investigate, and analyze General Ledger variances


Assist with the optimization of accounting procedures and special projects, as required

Main focus on Accounts Receivable and Airline Billing.


Perform General cashier duties. Issue, audit and maintain all hotel banks.

Ensure all cash overage and short variances are documented and followed up.


Prepare weekly bank deposits and change orders as needed

Respond to inquiries from guests, clients, owners and vendors


Book Royalty fees and apply payments

Assist with Income Audit


Complete period end-closing procedures and reports

Attend required meetings


Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Audit daily and monthly reports to create appropriate journal entries in compliance with GAAP, Hyatt and property SOP, with the objective of producing the monthly financials to be reviewed by ownership and the management company.


Alert management of potentially serious issues and help develop solutions

Support and guide operational teams to achieve, plan and organize work, communicate goals and schedule/assign work and process to achieve a correct accounting.


Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis.

Follow up on requests to ensure guest satisfaction; respond diligently to guests, coworkers, and member requests in a friendly manner.


Prepare journal entries with adequate supporting documentation and backup

Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards to ensure that those entries are meeting audit requirements.


Support and guide operational teams to achieve, plan and organize work, communicate goals and schedule/assign work and process to achieve a correct accounting.

Assists with the bi-annual and/or annual internal and external audit process.



Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred) with 1-3 years of accounting experience (hospitality experience a plus).


Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with financial software (Opera, PeopleSoft, or similar preferred).

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.


Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams, guests, and vendors.

Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and audit processes.
