Our studios are considered one of the foremost motion picture and television production and post-production facilities in the world. They inform, engage, and transport audiences to new worlds. The key to that lies with our Studio Operations group, which includes areas like soundstage/backlot set rentals, events, design, culinary, construction, landscaping and much more. Your New Role:
The Stage Manager is an extension of the Show Director in the studio and leads the Studio Production crew during call time. This position will work closely with the Show Director, Show Producer and Show Talent to help successfully execute the production plan. The Stage Manager is proactive in terms of “owning the room”, relaying direction/instruction/information, along with controlling/organizing the movement of people and equipment in the studio.
Your Role Accountabilities:
LIVE/TAPED PRODUCTIONS
- Work with the Technical Director and Audio Engineer (A1) during the technical fax to verify all studio monitors are working and routed correctly
- Attend pre-production meetings led by the Show Director including the camera meeting, making sure all necessary crew is in attendance, pointing out any special elements in the rundown and verifying all crew understand their specific assignments
- Taking the initiative as a leader of the studio to work with the Show Director to ensure the production and scenic crews plus talent are all aligned on the creative initiatives and show rundown
- Collaborate with Talent Services to ensure the on-camera talent is on time, on set and positioned on their “marks” along with their makeup and wardrobe looking complete
- Provide cues to the talent to start/stop their performance and address the correct camera. Verbally count talent in/out of commercial breaks, video playback and/or live remote segments
- Keep the talent and crew informed of the progress of the show rundown and any changes as they occur
- Collaborate with the studio scenic team/stagehands to ensure all necessary props are present and any scenic changes/moves are executed in a timely fashion
- When the production wraps, work with the crew to ensure the cameras are bagged, the studio is neat/clean, set out trash cans for housekeeping and make sure all crew have signed in/out on daily crew sheet
COLLABORATION & COMMUNICATION
- Collaborate with Talent Services to ensure the talent has everything they need in terms of office supplies, clean show mugs, preferred beverages
- Works closely with the Production Management and Technical Operations teams to identify and plan special elements/segments for Productions
Qualifications & Experiences:
- 8 – 10 years of network level broadcast production experience operating as a Stage Manager and/or Floor Director for live/taped studio and/or remote (on location) multi-camera productions
- Knowledgeable of current industry standards
- In-depth understanding of production show cues and the industry standard for relaying them to talent and crew
- In-depth understanding of all Production positions as it relates to a studio and or remote (on location) production (camera, audio, lighting, scenic, makeup, etc.)
- Must have excellent time management skills and the ability to keep a Production crew on task
- Must have strong leadership skills as well as excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- Must take ownership and accountability for assigned projects
- Must be able to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints
- Able to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays
Not Required but preferred experience:
- Knowledgeable of new technologies available or on the horizon
