This job contributes to REI’s success by designing, delivering, and scaling learning programs including product, process and systems, leader development, onboarding, and compliance training. This role will lead a team that consists of program managers, as well as content and curriculum designers to create and sustain effective training programs. This role will collaborate heavily with the Stores Leadership team to ensure the design and delivery of programs is in alignment with REIs training and expertise strategy.
As part of the Store Operations leadership team, the Manager of Store Training will deliver results in collaboration with internal and cross divisional partners, building dynamic partnerships with leaders in the field and headquarters (HQ) managing training programs that are directly tied to business results including increasing sales, maximizing profit, and providing extraordinary service. This role is a critical partner across the organization, thinking strategically and acting decisively while inspiring the team to deliver identified objectives and outcomes. This role drives a customer centric focus through operational ownership at all levels to create a great place to shop and work.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Partners with Director of Store Operations to define, own, prioritize and implement strategic initiatives in support of divisional strategies.
- Partners with cross-divisional managers and directors to manage demand, resources, and timelines for effective implementation.
- Design, enhance and implement high-impact learning programs for store leaders and employees.
- Integrate learning best practices into store experiences and training programs, providing leadership for these core co-op offerings.
- Manage instructional design process for store facing training programs in partnership with cross divisional learning & development teams.
- Consult on vendor relationship and platforms in which learning programs reside, in partnership with HR Learning & Development team members.
- Integrate DEI strategy into all learning programs.
- Provide direct leadership to staff. Establishes work priorities, ensures work is coordinated and evaluates proposed solutions to ensure work contributes to achievement of business objectives.
- Drives functional strategic planning, applying current knowledge and future vision.
- Collaborates with other department leaders to identify business needs: plan, schedule, and coordinate work; and ensure integration of business needs and learning solutions.
- Keep abreast of changes in technology and innovations relating to learning and development, incorporate best practices in learning solutions.
- Manages team resources to balance internal workload and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope and on budget.
Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in learning and development design and delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in several Talent Management functions , such as performance management, succession planning, , or leadership development.
- 5+ years leading teams in learning program development, project management, and/or training strategy.
- 2+ years experience in retail, service industry or branded organization.
- Project management skills including ability to create action plans and timelines, manage multiple programs simultaneously on time and within budget.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand business challenges and recommend effective implementation plans to deliver defined objectives.
- Proven track record of forming partnerships and influencing effectively – across levels and constituencies
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
- Builds capacity of individuals and teams through effective employee development, involvement, communication, and supervision efforts.

Pay Range
$98,300.00 – $157,400.00 per year
