Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Supplier Relationship Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing our relationships with key suppliers to ensure the delivery of contractual, commercial, and operational commitments. This role involves analyzing supplier performance data, identifying risks, and implementing strategies to enhance supplier performance and mitigate potential issues.



What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Collect and analyze data related to supplier performance for the Rolling Stock supply base.
  • Identify trends and analyze “early warning” detection data to collaborate with suppliers and/or stakeholders to mitigate any impacts, proactively identify risks, and resolve them.
  • Conduct supplier audits to verify capacity, compliance, and readiness for new project launches.
  • Assist in managing suppliers escalated to strategic procurement due to performance issues, including quality, capacity, systems, responsiveness, or any supply chain disruptions or crises that may arise.
  • Understand the contractual, commercial, and operational relationships with suppliers to ensure commitments are met.
  • Help develop and implement risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with Commodity Managers.
  • Conduct internal and external training sessions, including creating guidance materials on supplier management best practices, internal tools and processes, troubleshooting supplier relationship challenges, and other assigned programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance supplier performance and risk management.
  • Identify and resolve critical supply chain disruptions. Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future disruptions.

  • Proven experience in supplier management, procurement, or supply chain roles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data to drive decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of risk management strategies and best practices in supplier management.
  • Experience conducting supplier audits and developing training materials.
  • Ability to identify trends and proactively address potential risks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using supplier management software and tools.
  • Expert in MS Excel

This position is based in Sacramento, CA. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA, is $119,900 – $162,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
