Responsibilities
The supervisor position will work closely with the International Medical Director, Operations Administrator, and Operations Manager to provide oversight and direction of the international practice to meet the enterprise and site vision and strategic goals. The supervisor position must understand Mayo’s international practice and explore opportunities to grow and expand the practice. The position provides direct supervision of the International Patient Center staff including coordinators, interpreting and translation functions. The supervisor serves as an ambassador and resource for the practice through excellent customer relations skills and expert knowledge of appointment scheduling, patient care, and billing functions for external referring physicians, consulates, embassies and international patients. Provides leadership and direction to the work group and performs problem solving of immediate operational issues. Provides project management oversight for department improvement projects. Coordinates and monitor training and education activities within department. Represents the Mayo Language Department with internal and external groups. Works with outside providers of interpreting services to supplement staff needs and patient needs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Three to five years of previous Healthcare supervisory experience required. International practice and Language Services work experience preferred. Substantial knowledge of practices/methods preferred. Must have both a desire and ability to work well with people of diverse cultures, customs, educational levels, world-views, and possess respect for those differences.
Excellent time management, customer service, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and presentation skills required. Certification from either the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) is preferred. The ability to speak Spanish is preferred.
