The Taos Sports Retail Manager will maintain Taos Ski Valley Inc.’s premier retail operation, which is the best in the region.



Compensation is based on NSAA data for the region and consideration of prior professional experience and certifications.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Actively work the sales floor, engaging customers and staff to accomplish the store’s vision and goals.
  • Lead by example with top sales and world-class customer service.
  • Lead your team to cleanliness, attention to detail, and organizational excellence.
  • Responsible for the completion and reporting of all end-of-day closeouts.
  • Design, implement, and document staff training and incentive programs.
  • Track and validate all daily cleaning, stocking, and organizational duties.
  • Participate with the Hiring Team in the recruitment process.
  • Participate with the Buying Team in in-store merchandising, re-stocking, and inventory control to ensure a world-class shopping experience.
  • As needed, assist management with the annual Resort Services budgetary process for Confluence and other retail outlets.
  • Report weekly and as needed to Resort Services management on sales, wages, and goals relative to budget.

  • Actively engage with human resources to meet all staff needs.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled work days.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge


  • 5 years minimum retail or related management or supervisory experience. Required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
  • Retail point-of-sale and inventory management software experience preferred.
  • Understanding of retail math is not required.
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple functions simultaneously in a high-pressure environment and on strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrates experience appropriately handling differences, both internally and/or with guests.
  • Ability to review financial information for accuracy and identify problem areas.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require moving on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Travel may be required during trade shows.



Physical Demands of Position Include:

50-75% of time spent sitting at a computer or POS. 25-50% of time spent standing/walking. 10-25% of time spent moving objects – often lifting 10-25lbs, rarely up to 50lbs, and using a dolly.
