This role aims to support the overall Finance function and provides on-site leadership at our properties during periods of turnover. This position supports hotel Directors of Finance in overseeing daily operations contributing to strategic financial planning to deliver on key priorities. This task force position requires up to 50-75% travel, with assignments ranging from one week to several months.



Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and review all journal entries, month-end reports, and reconciliations.
  • Review preliminary financial statements with Director of Finance.
  • Participate in monthly financial reviews and support Director of Finance with the presentation of these reports.
  • Supervise Finance and Procurement staff and the Information Technology functions of the hotel including coaching and counseling associates to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures, interviewing, training, and evaluating performance of staff.
  • Manage and help oversee hotel on and off-site accounting functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting, and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting, and cash management.
  • Systems administration, G/L account reconciliations, budget preparations, inventories, monthly closings, and full P&L responsibility.
  • Assist with managing and ensuring SOX compliance- monitor internal controls and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Manage the audit process- Participate in and respond to auditor requests to ensure total hotel compliance.
  • Help prepare all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department staff in this process. Proactively manage troubleshooting for relevant cost controls and revenue enhancements.
  • Support Director of Finance with special reporting and adhoc analysis.

Qualifications


Experience:

  • 2 years or more of finance career progression; preferred experience in hospitality, retail, or related industry
  • Experience supervising/directing staff members
  • Technical proficiency in Oracle and Hyperion
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Adaptable to the time zone of the property; special considerations for Hawaii on a case-by-case basis


Education:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality, Business or Related Field preferred
