Vehicle Mechanic

Taos Ski Valley Inc. is looking for a full-time skilled Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming for maximum reliability and functionality. An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical or electronic systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. They must be good communicators to provide detailed solutions to managers and supervisors.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
• Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain, and upgrade
• Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts, etc.) aiming at vehicle functionality and longevity
• Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise management and users on good vehicle use
• Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
• Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job
• Keep logs of work and issues
• Maintain equipment and tools in good condition

Personal Skills:

• Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship is a must
• Proven experience as an auto mechanic
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
• Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment (e.g. lift)

Qualifications/Knowledge:

• Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protection against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
• Excellent physical condition
• A high school diploma is preferred.
• Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus

• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during holidays and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

60% time standing, Lifting objects no more than 50 pounds, may include spending time on the computer for parts research or diagnostic testing.
